Jessica Simpson's mother insulted Jess after she screwed up the rendition of "9 to 5" in front of Dolly Parton and President Bush at the Kennedy Center Honors last weekend. Her mom told her she should get out of the business if she doesn't want to put in the work.

TMZ reports: "Sources tell TMZ that Tina Simpson was furious with Jess after she flubbed lyrics, stood statue-still on stage while trying to hold her dress up, and then awkwardly hurried off with a few mumbled words to Parton. Tina told her daughter that the performance was "embarrassing" and "unprofessional," and mom was further incensed because Jessica had missed a dress rehearsal and hadn't adequately learned lyrics to the song -- which necessitated cue cards at the front of the stage. Jessica can be clearly seen reading from the cards during her performance."

I really doubt Mrs. Simpson would really let Jessica quit the business, because she's going to ride that gravy train until it totally runs out. It takes some balls to insult the person signing your checks, especially if it's your millionaire daughter who is the only reason you can go tanning at the country club. Jess should be embarrassed with herself for using "cue cards," but it's really not a big deal. There's a clause that says, "If I want to have sex with a girl, she can do what she wants." Seriously.
